Twenty-Something: Call for Submissions
Twenty-Something (July 13 to July 31, 2022) explores the transitional years from childhood to adulthood: the twenties. This exhibition will give a voice to the current challenges that young adults face right here, right now.
In an age where everything is being questioned; gender and sexuality, family dynamics, self-identity, relationship expectations, religion, politics, careers, lifestyle, and even geography; there is an incredible amount of room for interpretation and freedom within this exhibition. The most important thing is that the art reflects each artist’s thoughts and feelings on growing up in this time of great societal change. It can be about the world at large, or about your own experiences, as long as it reflects you and your perspective.
Submission Deadline: June 12, 11: 59 PM
The exhibition will be held in the North Gallery and Online from July 13 to 31, 2022
Submission Fee: $20 + HST for one work; $35 + HST for two works.
Artists who wish to apply must be between the ages of 20 and 29 and are encouraged to submit up to two pieces in any variety of medium or technique, with a maximum width of 40 inches for works hanging in the gallery / no size limit for online. Each artist is asked to include an artist statement (up to 200 words) explaining the inspiration behind the artwork and how it relates to the themes of the show. This will be included in a downloadable PDF catalogue available through the website.
Applicants must be able to drop off their artwork themselves to Propeller if they want to be considered for the in-person show. Artists may choose to apply for the online exhibition only.
