Fallen Limb III: I retrieve washed up dead wood from our Lake Ontario beach and resurrect them by swaddling them in vibrant colour. It is an act of reverence and love for what once was a beautiful living tree. It is also a comment on the fragility of our trees and how we must protect them.
I haul it over to my studio, let it fully dry out and then “clothe” it in bejewelled colour. It is symbolic of preservation, and highlights the concept of impermanence while insinuating the idea of regeneration.
