As a child, I loved the awe-inspiring wildness and spiritual beauty of the ancient forest that surrounded my home in Northern Ontario. When walking through the bush, I always felt welcomed, loving the sound of the wind when it rustled the boughs of the trees. They seemed to speak an archaic language that soothed the soul. Interestingly the birch tree or Beithe, is the first tree of the Ogham, the Celtic tree alphabet. With these thoughts in mind and when creating this latest work, I purposely selected forms that spoke to the metaphorical patterns of these ancients, the Birch Tree.
