This work started as a painting of natural pigments that I had purchased on a trip to Morocco in 2024 on Taniai Heritage Washi. The markets of Marrakesh were filled with vibrant colours, displayed in clothing, scarves, wonderful trinkets and piles of pigments from floor to ceiling. I shaped the Washi while still wet into the form of a dress, conveying the movement and voluptuous colours and rich “fabrics” in an imagined Moroccan dancer.
