Artist Statement
This sculptural quality is one of the things that sets encaustic painting apart from other traditional two-dimensional art forms. The physical properties of the wax medium and the accretion technique combine to create depth and dimension. n these works, countless layers are built upon, resulting in abstracted rhythms or patterns. I used the encaustic accretion technique to emulate the tactile qualities found in nature, in this work the pattern of rain falling on a window.
