Artist Statement
Wasp nests are sculptures from nature. Paper wasps build their nests by creating a paper-like pulp and then forming intricate layers of precisely crafted hexagonal cells. Although they appear to be fragile, they are surprisingly strong and intricate. I formed encaustic vessels to display the wasp nests to honour and compliment their natural beauty.
