Transmogrification is defined as the act or process of changing or being changed completely. It is the appropriate title for this artwork that underwent several transformations over time. Creating an abstract work is not as easy as it appears and requires letting emotions guide the visual language using shapes, forms, colors and lines. This artwork has multiple applications of textures, pigments and acrylic until a satisfactory composition was achieved. The overall effect is quite organic with contrasting spherical elements in bright colours.
Gwen was an abstract expressionist painter who was not afraid to use daring and bold brush strokes in strong colours to generate movement and depict forces of nature. She was a dear friend, and we worked together at Propeller on the membership committee and on several exhibitions. I miss her enthusiasm, her unwavering determination and specially her friendship.
