My new direction starts with recycling existing paintings, assuming ecological responsibility, and giving new life to old canvases. First, a texture is applied over the existing painting consisting of heavy gel medium mixed with nepheline gel, golden sand from Namibia and black sand from Stromboli. Then pigments from Morocco and charcoal are sprinkled over and sprayed with diluted acrylic gloss medium. These vivid pigments really revived the old artworks. The process can be repeated a few times. This has been one of the new approaches for my upcoming exhibition on Morocco.
