Since 2011, I have been fortunate and honoured to be a member of Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts, an artist-run cooperative in Toronto. Propeller has always been a warm and welcoming space, even for someone like me who has not always been able to participate fully because of the demands of my work as an art therapist.
It is a genuinely collaborative and supportive community, particularly for emerging Canadian artists, offering curated, juried, and member exhibitions. Over the years, I have witnessed the generosity with which members celebrate one another’s growth and achievements, including when artists find new opportunities, venues, and directions for their work.
I am deeply grateful for the sustained efforts of the dedicated members who have worked tirelessly on the Board, installed exhibitions, gallery-sat, and contributed in countless other ways. Their generosity, commitment, and care have made Propeller the remarkable community it is.
