I first met Gwen years ago when we both attended a wire sculpture class at TSA. Later, she became a regular participant in classes I taught in printmaking and washi-based techniques. Gwen never complained about anything even when discussing her health issues. Taking classes she said was a much needed break from thinking about her and her family’s health concerns. When creating work she was able to free herself for a short time.
River to the Sea 1 and 2 are both copper etchings printed on kozo at Open Studio. These represent the work l was doing when l met Gwen. At the time, I was experimenting with non toxic, alternative acrylic grounds that protect the plate during the etching process.
