The title of this painting is taken from Gwendolyn MacEwen’s poem “Dark Pines Under Water”. As a landscape painter, her work has always been a source of inspiration. The last stanza of MacEwan’s poem reads,
“But the dark pines of your mind dip deeper / And you are sinking, sinking, sleeper / In an elementary world; / There is something down there and you want it told.”
