Medieval Ladies is a series of 14 discs. It is a whimsy that depicts the dissolution of boundaries between truth and the imagination. Cut-out figures are engaged in specific activities, but their imaginings transport them far from their present realities. We see here the three planes of their existence: objective reality (the cut-outs themselves), imagined reality (the miniature paintings that surround them), and reinvented reality (the personal mythology that, for better or worse, defines them and comes to dominate their world).
