Palingenesis explores rebirth by capturing the moment a flower resurrects from its ashes. The piece relies on a stark material contrast to symbolize this narrative. I utilize a thin, diaphanous Japanese paper–Kizuki Somegami Aqua–that perfectly embodies the flower’s fragile ephemerality. In contrast, the rich zones of black ink represent the ash and ground from which the flower springs, symbolizing its enduring life.
