Sandamali is a self-taught Canadian artist, originally from Sri Lanka. Her primary mediums include acrylic paint and pencil drawings in graphite, coloured pencil and charcoal. Her inspirations stem from cultural representations and visual interpretations of the human form. Having been raised in a third world country, her practice primarily incorporates the raw hardship and resilience faced by the people of developing countries through her drawings. She also captures the physical beauty of human beings in pure, naked, and stilled movements through acrylic paint as another form of interpretation.
