Born in Toronto, Ontario where I currently work and reside, I studied Visual Art at York University, specializing in painting and sculpture. I am both an artist and educator having shown in galleries across Ontario and my work can be found in private and commercial collections across Canada. I have taught visual art to students of all ages for the last fifteen years in a variety of media including; drawing, painting and sculpture.
As an artist, I want my pieces to draw the viewer’s attention to something that may otherwise have gone unnoticed and to see things from a different angle. I want viewers to really pay attention to what surrounds them, look around, take a closer look and beware, so they don’t miss something important.
My paintings tend to lean towards abstraction, using bold colours, lines and textures. I paint in both oil and acrylic and sometimes incorporate mixed media. I am fascinated with painting macro images of nature and wildlife. I have used a wide range of sculptural processes including bronze, resin, wood, clay and found objects. My installation pieces are interactive and rely on audience participation.
