Loree Ovens grew up in a quiet GTA suburb, spending many hours developing her creativity and imagination through books. Her late teens were spent in PEI where she studied Fashion Technique and Design at Holland College. After returning to Ontario, she received an arts diploma from the Sheridan College School of Craft and Design. She studied glass blowing and majored in textiles. Loree had a textile residency at the Craft Studio at Harbourfront Centre and later earned a BFA in Printmaking from OCADU. Loree Ovens is a mixed media artist working and living in Toronto with her partner.



Loree Ovens enjoys working in different techniques especially with washi through printmaking, painting, drawing, sewing, encaustic and mix media. She is drawn to intricate tactile pieces that express the hand of the maker. Loree continues to explore the use of surface design techniques into her fascination with line, pattern, and architecture to fuel her inspiration.
Loree was formerly represented by David Kaye Gallery and is currently a member of Open Studio and Craft Ontario. Loree has shown in national and international exhibitions in Canada, Japan, United States, Taiwan, Australia and Scotland. Her work is part of both private and public collections including the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, National Bank, Art Gallery of New South Wales and SGC International.
