Born in Budapest, her family moved to Canada in 1956. Lucy graduated from York University, the Chelsea School of Art in London, the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD), and Ryerson University with a degree in Image Arts/Photographic Film Studies. She worked as a landscape painter in the 80’s and 90’s, and as an award-winning documentary photographer.
In 2010, expanding on her passion for film and her love of Muskoka, Ontario, she founded Film North – the Huntsville International Film Festival – a showcase for emerging Canadian and International filmmakers. As its CEO, Lucy mentored a group of talented interns who have gone on to successful film careers.
Lucy Molnar Wing was an advocate for film and photography in Canada. Named in her honour, the Lucy Molnar Wing Lecture Series is held annually at Ryerson University.
