Vector Game + Art Convergence PREVIEW NIGHT

Vector is an exciting new festival showcasing works that situate digital games as the tools and inspiration for contemporary art making and is proudly funded by the Ontario Arts Council. 

During the Preview Night, Vector curators will discuss the festival’s mandate, offer a sneak preview of art work, present ticketing information and make major programming announcements.


This four day festival and symposium, Vector Game + Art Convergence will run from February 21- 24, 2013 at Interaccess Electronic Art Centre, Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts and Bento Miso.  

Preview includes:

Installations: All threevenues will have detailed installations including an immerse game environment and a survey of art inspired by games.

Screenings: Machinima is a recent moving image art form that involves re-purposing the computer graphics found in video games to create new cinematic productions

Performance: 

-Angela Washko: http://angelawashko.com/home.html Washko (New York) creates new forums for the discussion of feminism through interventions ad performances within the online game ‘World of Warcraft.’ 

-Toca Loca: ‘Halo Ballet’ http://vimeo.com/33042253 Toronto based Toca Loca’s Halo Ballet is a piece for live performers (piano, keyboard, percussion, harp or guitar) and electronic dancers, performed in real time within the Halo videogame environment.

Panels:  which will address a variety of topics, allowing visitors to dialogue with artists and academics participating in the festival.

Workshops: will provide hands on experience in the production of game based artworks

Pop-Up Shop: The Vector Pop-Up Shop will feature limited run, affordable prints, 

DVDs, audio CDs, ROMs, zines, t-shirts and more
