PROPELLER CENTRE FOR VISUAL ARTS AND “SKETCH” PRESENT “URBAN EXPRESSIONS OF LIFE” ART SALE
Toronto- December 18, 2008 – A one night art show and sale at the Propeller Centre for Visual Arts will feature the work of young Toronto artists engaged with SKETCH. The event is a testament to the power of art in bringing about social change. The artists range in age from 15-29 and work in a cross discipline warehouse studio on King Street West at Portland.
The art sale will break the usual mould, with live music and reasonably priced original artwork. The event also highlights the need for continued government support of Canadian artists during times of economic hardship. All proceeds from the art sale will go directly to the artists from SKETCH.
The artists are participants of Sketch—a community arts initiative based in downtown Toronto, engaging young people who live street-involved and homeless in all the benefits of art and culture making. (www.sketch.ca)
