Licking the Streetcar Window | Ingrid Jensen

March 14-22, 2020

A meditation on a favourite streetcar journey looks outwards to capture each stop’s essentials.  No time for detail… the car moves on… just a quick glimpse of lines, colours and shapes, populated by Toronto’s distinctive street furniture.  In winter the windows steam up, and once I watched a child suddenly lean forward and lick the window to make a spyhole.

Ingrid Jensen is caught between the pursuit of understanding, the temptation to make things happen, a stream of ideas, and the lure of materiality.  Drawing, sculpture, installation and interactive events are often linked by photography. She has studied and worked in Canada, the US and the UK, has an MSc from York University in Toronto, a DPhil in ecology from Linacre College Oxford, and an MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins.
