March 11 – April 8, 2006
Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts, Toronto, and White Water Gallery, North Bay, are pleased to present a collaborative exchange of exhibitions focused on the body-landscape connection. In these two exhibitions selected from the artist members of the Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts in Toronto and from White Water Gallery in North Bay, ten artists investigate their relationship to their physical environments, immediate, mediated and distant. The artists do this through both an inventive
use of their materials and processes as well as by a sophisticated and at times humorous network of references.
Mary Green, Liz Lott, Judith Martin, Lise Melhorn-Boe, Betty Sager and Dermot Wilson from White Water Gallery will exhibit work at Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts in Toronto. The four artists from Propeller—Mary McKenzie, Peter Palermo, John Redekop, and Ilona Staples—will exhibit their work in the White Water Gallery in North Bay.
In their selection of the work, curators John Armstrong and Sarah Quinton have aimed to create discussion and debate around the interpretation of the natural environment which humanity has, in so many ways, changed.
