September 21-25, 2016
Beyond Northern Familiarity: Toronto, at Propeller Gallery, is the 2nd part of an exhibition by Alix Voz that opened in Sudbury in June.
The show traces the artist’s creative exploration of cultural geography, individual and collective memory, the natural and built environment, and northern francophone identity. The exhibition presents large wood-panel paintings of rocky-lakeside landscapes and postcards created in a vibrant urban centre. The juxtaposition of the paintings and postcards reflects the artist’s longing for northern culture, language, and stillness. The show runs for 5 days from Sept. 21 to 25.
