The Ontario Society of Artists, Propeller Art Gallery and Contemporary Art Committee (Kirkland Lake) are pleased to present an Artist Talk by the renowned Mexican/Colombian artist and curator Dory Perdomo. Dory will be discussing her abstract artwork practice that utilizes recycled material as well as her active role as the Colombian ambassador to the Academy of Special Dreams. This California-based arts organization supports the special needs community and helps increase public awareness, recognition and appreciation of the creative talents of people with disabilities by providing opportunities to many artists.
Dory Perdomo Medina is a Colombian/Mexican artist with training in Chemical Engineering and Fine Arts. She lost her father at the age of five, which greatly impacted her life. She lived in the USA for six years and then studied at Talleres de la Casa de la Cultura – La Pérgola, and the Taller de Experimentación Plástica de Monterrey in Mexico. She has had more than 20 solo and group exhibitions, as well as art residencies in various countries around the world. She is the founder of the Bauprés Collective and the Bauprés Cultural Center, where she acts as Director. She is the International Representative and Ambassador of the Special Dreams Academy of California USA, in Mexico and Colombia – coordinating the project that trains, promotes and sponsors the community with disabilities through the international travelling exhibition “Uniendo Fronteras”
