Discrimination: Unfair or prejudicial treatment of individuals or groups on the basis of grounds listed above. Discrimination, whether intentional or unintentional, has the effect of preventing or limiting access to opportunities, benefits, or advantages that are available to other members of society.  It is not a discriminatory practice to adopt or carry out a special program designed to relieve hardship or economic disadvantage, or to assist disadvantaged persons or groups to achieve or attempt to achieve equal opportunity, or that is likely to contribute to the elimination of the infringement of rights under the Human Rights Code.

Harassment: a course of vexatious comment or conduct that is known, or ought reasonably to be known, to be unwelcome.

Equity: The recognition of the dignity and worth of every person and the provision of equal rights and opportunities without discrimination that is contrary to law. Equity does not mean treating people the same without regard for individual differences.

Diversity: The presence of a wide range of human qualities and attributes within a group, organization, or society.  Dimensions of diversity include but are not limited to age, ancestry, colour, culture, ethnic origin, gender expression, gender identity, language, physical and intellectual ability, race, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.

Inclusion: The creation of a climate of understanding and mutual respect for the dignity and worth of each person so that each person feels a part of the community and able to contribute fully to the development and well-being of the community.

Propeller’s Handling of Complaints

If you wish to file a complaint, the process is outlined below:

  1. Email our Chair of the Board or call them. If you are not comfortable contacting our Chair, you can choose to reach out to a board member that you feel comfortable with. All contact information is available from the “members-only” link on our website. You can also call or email our Gallery Director who can also provide this information. Serious complaints may require the complainant to document the facts. The Chair may share this information confidentially with our Board of Directors. If the Chair and Board agree that there is a need to share this information further, through contacting a specific individual to verify your claims, or we find it necessary to seek outside advice, we will ask your permission beforehand and disclose to you, what will be shared and with whom it will be shared.
  2. The resolving time of a complaint may vary considerably depending on its nature. Please communicate your degree of urgency to us. We will however do all that we can to address it in a timely manner.
  3. Once the Chair, and/or our Board has reviewed the complaint and has had the time to consider solutions, they will respond to you and let you know what actions are to be taken and an approximate timeline.

Special thanks to our funding partners, donors, and supporters.
